They’re sending me to North Macedonia for a business trip next week and figuring out the afternoon logistics is my current project. The corporate meetings are strictly taking up the morning hours every day, leaving me with totally open afternoons to just cruise around. Staying in the hotel room watching TV sounds incredibly boring when there’s a whole new country outside. I really want to check out some cool spots near Skopje before the sun goes down. Drop some suggestions for local sights to visit and where to rent a car for these afternoon runs.

Those mandatory morning presentations fly by way faster when you know the rest of the day is totally yours. Catching those late afternoon hours right when the sun starts going down makes the whole corporate grind bearable. People usually head straight out to Matka Canyon to catch a quick boat ride between the cliffs. Plus another good move is driving up to the Millennium Cross on the mountain, the whole city layout looks crazy from up top.

Colleagues always try to drag you to hotel lobby bars after those long meetings, so dipping out to the mountains is definitely the right move. The roads around those parts are pretty well maintained and driving up there is super chill. You can sort out the wheels and rent a car in North Macedonia here: https://getrentacar.com/en-US/north-macedonia . Just pick something comfortable for those winding routes up the hills. The local drivers are pretty relaxed, so cruising around the nature spots won’t stress you out at all.
