My Waiter Story! From Uganda to Bahrain
Hullooo, it’s Johnson currently staying in Bahrain, the heart of Middle East. Here is my Waiter Story:
I did a course in catering and hotel management for 3 years in Uganda, East Africa.
After my graduation, I worked with one of the top fast food restaurant chains in Kampala, the capital. I was working as a junior cook in the kitchen.
It was a tough work with extremely long hours, burns, pressure just like you know the busy kitchens. Most times you don’t even know what the weather is like outside and time as well.
After about a year, one of my friends who was working in Bahrain with a five star hotel asked me if I was interested to work as a waiter, for there was a open position at the hotel.
I took the job interviews and fortunately the hotel took me up. The interviews are always highly selective and much competed for.
So far the journey is so good, you meet new faces almost everyday, learn new things and most of all create friendship.
One thing that is good about being at the front of the house, you get to know many people from all over the world.
With the experience over time, I expect to be at the top of customer service mostly in the hospitality industry because all businesses rotate around service.
When I got to know about The Waiters Academy via YouTube, it inspired me so much and today I’ve gained confidence too in wine service, attending to guest’s complaints among others.
